“Vera and I worked closely with Mike during 2007-2008 on the construction of our new home at 791 Potato Patch, Vail, CO.  We started out by agreeing to tear down the existing house that had been there since the late 1970’s, and had purchased a few years before.  The first thing Mike saw was that the original house was improperly sited on the lot even though it had spectacular views of Vail Mountain.  To take full advantage of the view, he suggested moving the house down the slope by approximately 100 feet, which at first seemed counter intuitive, but what this did was open up views west and east, so that the new house would have 270 degree panoramic views.  I believe that most architects would not have had the imagination to relocate the foundation in this way, but this made all the difference for the final product.  We worked on several different designs, had extensive conversations regarding layout, materials, builders etc.  Mike was fully engaged and rode herd on the builder, Beck, which turned out to be a good choice, but the men on site still needed daily input from an architectural point of view.  Most important, we have now lived in the house for eight years and it works really well as living space in all of the ways that we had hoped.  Working with Mike was a real pleasure and we recommend him highly.”
